Recently, our commitment to giving back to the community was focused on The Gardiner Foundation. Tariq Bailey, branch manager of the Fishkill office, and one of our talented loan originators, represented the entire MortgageDepot team through the sponsorship of the 15th Annual Gardiner Memorial Classic Basketball Tournament.
This important event was held on August 28 and August 29 at St. James Park in the Bronx. At the event, Tariq donated sneakers for children, and gave away fun raffle prizes where the winners received a Soloqi wireless portable fast charger or a Canon mini photo printer for smartphones.
The Gardiner Foundation focuses on supporting those who have experienced a recent tragedy that resulted in the loss of a loved one. The foundation was established in 2006 by Dexter Gardiner after he lost a total of eight family members in one devastating year.
By sponsoring The Gardiner Foundation at this annual event, MortgageDepot has directly supported its ability to offer scholarships and mentorship opportunities to those who need assistance after enduring a personal tragedy. From this event, the foundation has given away 350 backpacks that were each loaded with essential school supplies. The tournament also fostered a sense of community by bringing folks together for food, drinks, recreation and even the chance to meet current and former NBA players.
